My Path

Even from childhood, I remember a fair amount of inner suffering. Back then I couldn’t understand or name it; I only knew that there was a restlessness inside me that the outer world couldn’t truly calm. Perhaps this is why, quite early on, a question arose in me: why does a person suffer, and is it possible to find something that doesn’t depend on circumstances, success, or the opinions of others.

In my teenage years, I lost myself for a while in the world of money, status, achievement, and the desire for recognition. I believed that external success and the approval of others would give me what I was missing inside. Gradually I realized that a person can achieve a great deal outwardly while remaining restless, empty, or estranged from themselves within. This experience later became an important part of my understanding of the ego, which often promises fulfillment in the future, while in doing so distances us from what is alive and real now.

I chose to study medicine because I wanted to understand people and help them. Medicine gave me a scientific foundation, discipline, and an understanding of the body, illness, and the nervous system. After my studies, I gained clinical experience in surgery, rehabilitation, and diagnostics. Along the way, I noticed that illness and suffering are not the same thing. Some people maintained inner peace even with a difficult diagnosis, while others suffered deeply despite an orderly life and good test results. Medicine could answer many questions about the body, but not always the question of who the suffering person truly is, and what can really set them free.

After finishing my studies and gaining my first experience as a physician, I went to India and devoted myself even more intensively to self-exploration. For about a decade I meditated regularly and explored my own mind. This was not an escape from life, but a direct encounter with fear, sadness, the need for validation, old wounds, and ideas about who I was supposed to be. At the same time, I began to discover that a person is not limited only to their thoughts, emotions, past, and personal story. There is also a deeper dimension of inner stillness and presence that no problem can fully touch.

Over time, I clearly noticed a gap between two worlds that were both close to my heart. In psychotherapeutic approaches, I often missed a direct exploration of the nature of the self and the question of who we are beyond our learned identities. In spiritual circles, I often missed a precise understanding of ego development, defense mechanisms, childhood wounds, and trauma. A person can have profound spiritual insights and still be driven by unresolved psychological patterns. Likewise, a person can understand their past very well without experiencing genuine inner change because of it. I was looking for an approach that would bring the two together.

I found that connection at The Leela School of Awakening in Amsterdam, where I trained in clinical hypnotherapy and deepened my understanding of the structure of the ego, human suffering, and self-exploration. Later, I further developed my knowledge through trainings with Igor Ledochowski, particularly in the areas of Ericksonian and conversational hypnosis and therapeutic language. Hypnosis has allowed me not only to help a person understand their problem, but to work together to access the unconscious patterns, emotional imprints, and inner conflicts that keep the problem in place.

Through years of work and several thousand individual sessions, I gradually developed an approach that brings together medicine, hypnotherapy, an understanding of the ego, trauma work, and direct exploration of a person’s true being. I don’t rely on a single technique or predetermined scripts. Every person has their own story and their own way of experiencing life, so the therapeutic process must be adapted to them. At the center of my work are not techniques, but the person, the therapeutic relationship, presence, and the ability to recognize what the client truly needs in a given moment.

Today I am an IACT Certified Trainer and the founder of the Academy of Hypnotherapy. The Academy came about when I realized that in individual practice I could directly help only a limited number of people. Demand kept growing, while my time remained limited. So I wanted to pass on my knowledge and experience to others who could responsibly carry it forward. The purpose of the Academy is not merely to teach hypnotic techniques, but to train therapists who understand the unconscious mind, the ego, trauma, and the therapeutic relationship, and who are willing to do serious work on themselves as well. A therapist can only accompany a client as deeply as they themselves are willing to go. In this way, my work can reach, through their clients, people I will never personally meet myself.

Today I understand my work as a continuation of the question that has followed me since childhood: what truly helps a person when they suffer? I don’t believe that a person is merely their diagnosis, their past, or their problem. Nor do I believe that understanding or positive thinking alone is enough for deep change. I believe that within every person there is a part that no problem can touch. My work is to help people find their way back to that space and begin to live differently from it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a therapist with a medical background (dr. med.)?

Medical knowledge allows me a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection. As a physician, I understand physiological processes, neuroscience, and the functioning of the nervous system. When combined with hypnotherapy, this enables a safer and more holistic approach. This is especially crucial in complex conditions where physical symptoms and psychological distress intertwine.

What is your specific therapeutic approach?

“My approach combines classic Ericksonian hypnosis with the latest methods of working with the ego and essence. I do not focus merely on eliminating symptoms, but on discovering the roots of the problems within the subconscious. I believe that every client already carries all the necessary answers within themselves; my task is simply to show you the way to them with the help of trance.

How do your experiences from abroad and India influence the therapy

Studying abroad and exploring spirituality give me a breadth that goes beyond purely clinical frameworks. Educating myself at schools such as the Leela School in Amsterdam gave me insight into the structure of the human ego, while my time in India taught me how to guide a person inward, where lasting peace resides. I integrate this knowledge into my therapies to help clients find connection with their true essence.

Why do classic approaches sometimes not yield the desired results?

“Because most methods focus only on the conscious 10% of the mind, while patterns reside in the subconscious. If we try to solve a problem solely on a rational level, we often encounter resistance. Hypnotherapy allows us to enter the field of the subconscious, where decisions are actually made and where all learned patterns are stored, enabling lasting transformation.

Is treatment with you suitable also for those who take medication?

Yes, but a specific approach is required for clients on antidepressants or sedatives. Medications can sometimes ‘mute’ the emotions that we need to access during hypnosis. In such cases, I advocate for a longer-term treatment plan and close cooperation with your treating psychiatrist, so we can achieve the therapeutic goals gradually and safely.

How do you ensure a safe and confidential environment for your clients?

As a physician and therapist, I am committed to the highest ethical standards and absolute discretion. My work in Ljubljana and Buje is based on actively and dedicatedly guiding the client throughout the entire process. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can face your deepest fears and traumas and process them safely.

I visited Dr. Grunčić Krajnc based on a very warm recommendation from my personal physician. The first visit/contact felt like I was in a movie—the reception, the treatment… The first walk to his clinic was difficult for me; my legs, body, and head felt heavy. However, right after the first session and completed therapy, I felt relief, as if I had jumped straight up from a lying position and landed firmly on my feet. Because of this, I looked forward to every single therapy appointment. Through the therapies (where finally, there were no medications that only further ‘cover up’ the condition), I discovered how many things I had buried deep within my subconscious that were the quiet, hidden cause of my anxiety, distress, depression, and subsequent exhaustion. I am grateful for this experience. To anyone facing things they feel they cannot process on their own, I would warmly recommend a session, just as my doctor did for me—for which I am also immensely grateful. Of course, one must also be aware of the fact that nothing happens overnight; it takes willpower, desire… It is definitely easier said than done. That is why help is always welcome. The path to happiness is much easier when we support people with good intentions. Traveling the path to happiness is much, much easier with people we can trust!

“With you, I entered the deepest corners of my being, beyond the conscious mind. There, I experienced a deep inner peace, shed all the weight of my past life, and became friends with my thoughts, emotions, and feelings. I discovered joy, gladness, and happiness in their purest form, completely detached from material goods or life relationships. I can always return to these depths. The insights I gained with you are my greatest wealth, something that cannot be bought anywhere. My life has become much better. I came to know you as someone who is always ready to help, highly professionally qualified, and a good person. I recommend this to everyone, for all levels of life. Aleksander, a sincere THANK YOU.

I am immensely grateful that I met Aleksander and decided to try his hypnotherapy. I perceived Aleksander as someone whose desire to help others is truly authentic. With his approach—the right choice of words and actions, a different perspective, his presence, acceptance, and calmness—he helped me overcome a challenge that had been troubling me for quite a while. At the same time, I discovered something completely new, something that until then had been entirely unknown to me. Aleksander, thank you for everything. And I truly, warmly recommend this to anyone who desires lasting change. ☀️
